RUNNING

The Isle of Man has routes, courses, terrain and events to suit every type of runner. From ultra challenging fell runs to short 5k fun runs on road the annual calendar of running events can provide you with a test to suit your ability and fitness.

The schedule includes one of the world’s toughest running challenges - The Isle of Man Mountain Ultra a 50k fell race with a shorter 28k option, and the more conventional Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon. For those that prefer a shorter challenge, the three-day Easter Running Festival is made up of the Good Friday 10k between two of the Island’s ports - Port Erin and Port St Mary, the fierce Peel Hill Climb, and the 5k Team Relay on the final day.Do all three or pick your favourite! There’s also a full list of local runs throughout the year including a great 10 mile trail run from Peel to Douglas along the old steam railway line.

This year also features the No Rest for the Wicked series - six consecutive days of trail or road races. Starting with a marathon (or half), the series also includes the Northern 10k, a four mile trail run, a testing climb of Peel Hill, and a six mile run around Foxdale, culminating with a brisk 7 miler along the Peel Heritage Trail.

Alternatively just lace up your trainers and find your own route. Lisa and Chris at Up and Running in Douglas can give advice.
