With its all-weather terrain, natural trails, forest roads, steep climbs, sheer descents, and wet, muddy remote moorland paths, the Isle of Man has the perfect conditions fo mountain biking. The Island also has a packed calendar of races - you can test yourself against the local riders in the Winter Series league, Manx Mud's Downhill Summer and Winter Series or three challenging meetings...

The Longest Day Longest Ride, organised by the Loaghtan Loaded club, is exactly what it sounds like! It is a 24-hour endurance mountain bike event held at Conrhenny Plantation and runs over the weekend of the Summer Solstice (longest day). The format is simple - ride for as long as you possibly can, clocking up the most number of laps you can of the 5km course. Each lap is packed with a variety of riding, from forest roads to sweeping singletrack to boardwalks through the trees.

The Manx 100 is a unique mountain bike event that involves 100 miles of riding from the Island’s northern most point to its southern most point. In between is around 15,000 feet of climbing (and descending).

There’s also the option of a shorter 100k course. The Manx Mountain Bike Club’s annual End2End race sees over 1,600 competitors cross the Island from north to south in a testing battle against the landscape and elements. The 75k course features around 1500m of climbing – and descents – through a mixture of fast fire roads, sweeping moorland paths, country lanes and singletrack forest trails.
