TT 2008 Practice week

Blackford Financial Services Pre TT Special

Date: 23rd May, 2008 to 26th May, 2008

Location: Isle of Man

The Pre-TT Classic Races came into being in 1988, after the TT organisers realised that the machines of yesteryear still had a place in the TT Festival.

The Blackford Pre-TT Classic Road Races, held on the 4.25-mile Billown Course, is the ideal pure road race course to watch, hear and smell the machines of past decades.

The enthusiasm and atmosphere is also special around the Billown circuit during the Blackford Pre TT Classic Meeting as spectators and enthusiasts mingle with the ever-growing number of competitors.

The event is capped on the Tuesday after the races by a unique Open Air Concours d'Elegance of Racing Machines in Castletown Square where many of the machines are 'fired-up' for everyone's enjoyment and is followed by the Prize Presentation.

WESTERLY OWNERS RALLY 2008

Date: 26th May, 2008

Location: WESTERLY OWNERS RALLY 2008

A coach has been booked to show you some of the Islands attractions. This is purely a “taster” and is very much a whistle-stop tour. The bus has been paid for by our Tourist Department and is therefore free of charge. However all other expenses will be you own responsibility……………Please let me know if you wish to go on the coach trip as it will have to be on a “first come first served” basis. The Protours coach will leave from the bus-stop by the Albert Hotel at 09.30.
09.30 leave Port St Mary for the Calf Sound. Coffee in the café for those that require it and time to have a wander round and enjoy the magnificent scenery or just sit in the sun!
10.30 travel to Douglas to see the new Marina and harbour, then along the Promenade, Broadway and Victoria Road to join the world famous TT circuit at Governors Bridge. We then carry on past the Grandstand and follow the course out to Ballacraine and then on to Peel to arrive at around 12.00.
There is an excellent museum in Peel, but there is far too much to see in the time available. It is well worth a visit but I suggest you allow at least half a day.
The Marine and the Creek hotels both serve lunches.
Peel has recently seen the installation of a water-retention cill to enable the boats to stay afloat permanently.
Pontoons are to be added soon.
14.00 Coach leaves for Castletown. There is a very interesting Nautical museum and a splendid castle.
It is now up to you to make your own way back to Port St Mary for the Rally supper at 20.00 for 20.30 in the clubhouse.
Buses leave Castletown Square for Port St Mary at regular intervals.
By far the most novel way of travelling is on the narrow gauge railway, which will stop at Port St Mary station which is about 20 mins walk from PSM harbour.
Trains leave Castletown station for PSM at 14.57 and 16.57. The cost is about £2.20 single.
Finally, there are lots of taxis.
The Close of Rally Supper is in the Clubhouse 20.00 for 20.30. Casual dress.
The club bar will be open from 19.00-midnight.
